This apartment was perfect, tasteful and very comfortable... This is a lovely base for a lovely island, thank you.
The main apartment is on the first and second floors. From the ground floor entrance hall, with ample hanging space for outdoor clothing, a staircase leads to the first floor, opening into a spacious hallway.
The open plan kitchen/diner extends across the front of Temperance House. The fully fitted kitchen is well equipped with a twin oven electric Aga, hob, microwave/oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There are superb views of Port Charlotte’s beach and lighthouse, across Lochindaal and to the Paps of Jura in the distance.
The large dining table seats 6-8 people and there is a corner seating area with wall mounted 37” HD TV and iPod dock. A hall utility cupboard has a washing machine and dryer.
To the rear of the apartment is the spacious sitting room offering home-from-home comforts including a wood burning stove, a 43” Smart UHD TV and a DVD player.
French windows lead to a patio area (perfect for an afternoon cuppa or aperitif). The patio, equipped with a barbecue, table and chairs, gives access to the sloping rear garden, laid to grass. There are 2 shower/toilets on this floor.
The bedrooms are on the second floor. The double bedroom and twin room at the front of the house have far-reaching views across the sea. A second double bedroom to the rear features French windows and a small balcony overlooking the garden. The sunny hallway has a reading area, with desk and comfortable armchair.
This floor has a family bathroom with an over-bath shower.
Temperance House takes its name from the Temperance Hotel which was located in the building last century. The hotel was later converted into a family home with a Bakery on the ground floor.
We purchased the property in 2011. After extensive refurbishment, the original house has been converted into two high standard self-catering apartments located in the heart of the picturesque conservation village of Port Charlotte.
Temperance House is our much-loved holiday home which we are delighted to make available to visitors.
